One of the things that you cannot miss doing (if you are a fan of "Nativity Scenes") is the "Nativity Scene Route" which gives us a great opportunity twice: since on the one hand we enjoy emblematic places of the city and on the other hand, the "Nativity Scenes" inside that cover them in a very special way. The Cánovas Christmas Market is another event that you cannot miss. This year it is held in the spectacular Plaza Mayor fully decorated for the occasion. You will also take a spectacular boat ride through the International Tagus where you will have the unique opportunity to observe the flight of griffon vultures, the Egyptian vulture, the beauty of the black stork and endangered species such as the imperial eagle. You will visit the Extremadura pasture and the habitat of the Iberian pig through a 4X4 route, a livestock farm and ham drying room. Whether you have a vacation or not, you will surely have moments to distract yourself before the much-feared date of January 7 arrives.

Christmas Market - Cheese Tasting

After breakfast, you will discover the magic of the Canóvas Christmas Market. This traditional Christmas market is perfect for purchasing handicrafts made of clay, leather or wood, among other pieces. It has 35 stalls offering second-hand books, jewelry, aromatic herbs and pillows. Lunch in a typical restaurant. In the afternoon, visit a cheese factory to learn about the products produced there, the artisan cheeses stand out and, especially, the famous Torta del Casar, which has the DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) catalogue. We will discover the origin of this delicacy, which has become a hallmark of the province of Cáceres. After the visit we will taste 10 different cheeses and learn to distinguish their different flavor, aroma and texture characteristics. In addition, we will accompany this tasting with a glass of wine from the region. When night falls, the beautiful historic center of Cáceres is transformed. We will take a theatrical night tour of the mysteries and legends of the Extremaduran city. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

In the afternoon, we will enter the Extremadura pasture, the natural habitat of the Iberian pig. On a 4x4 route, we will explore a livestock farm, where you will learn up close the process of breeding and feeding these animals. The experience continues in a ham drying room, where you will learn all the secrets behind the star product of Extremadura: Iberian ham. We will end the visit with a tasting of hams and sausages from the region.
